Crab Dip Recipe (Hot or Cold)

This is just a great crab dip recipe. I like to serve it both ways, either chilled or hot from the oven. Ritz Crackers are the perfect vessel to enjoy the creamy dip! I can't always find fresh crab, so unfortunately I had to use canned crab meat here. The trick is to soak the crab meat in ice water for 10 minutes. Then, pat it dry with paper towels. This makes such a difference! Otherwise, use fresh crab meat if you can!

  • 8 ounce package cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onion (save a little extra for topping the dip)
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay Seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 of a lemon, juiced
  • 1/2 cup freshly shredded cheddar cheese (divide in half and save the second half to top the dip)
  • 1/4 cup freshly shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsps of parmesan cheese
  • teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 can of crab meat or 1 pound fresh crab meat

  1. Using a hand mixer, mix together the cream cheese, mayonnaise, old bay seasoning, salt and pepper, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, one half of the cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and hot sauce.
  2. When the mixture is creamy, fold in the crab and one half of the green onions using a spatula.
  3. Add the mixture to buttered baking dish.
  4. Top the dip with the remaining shredded cheddar cheese and green onions.
  5. If you would like a cold dip, put the dip in the fridge to chill.
  6. If you would like a hot dip, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake the dip for 20 minutes.
  7. Serve with ritz crackers.
